Brief Summary
We are seeking an experienced Government Relations Manager (Regional & Local Affairs) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with regional and local government stakeholders, as well as identifying and mitigating potential regulatory risks. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement government relations strategies to achieve business objectives at the regional and local levels
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and local government officials, including mayors, council members, and other stakeholders
- Monitor and analyze regional and local government policies, laws, and regulations that may impact the organization
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential regulatory risks
- Represent the organization in regional and local government meetings, hearings, and other events
- Develop and manage budgets for government relations activities
- Provide training and guidance to employees on government relations best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Public Administration, Law, or Political Science from a recognized Ethiopian university
- Minimum 5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a related field, with a focus on regional and local government affairs
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian government structures, policies, and regulations at the regional and local levels
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with government officials and other stakeholders
- Fluency in Amharic and English is required; knowledge of other local languages is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential regulatory risks
- Membership in a relevant professional association, such as the Ethiopian Public Administration Association, is an asset
