Job Title: Gender, Youth, and Safeguarding Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gender, Youth, and Safeguarding Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and mainstreaming gender, youth, and safeguarding within our programs and operations. This role will work closely with various stakeholders, including colleagues, partners, and communities, to ensure that our interventions are inclusive, equitable, and safe for all.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to promote gender equality, youth empowerment, and safeguarding within our programs and operations
• Conduct gender, youth, and safeguarding analyses to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement
• Provide technical support and capacity-building training to staff and partners on gender, youth, and safeguarding
• Collaborate with program teams to design and implement inclusive and equitable programs that address the needs of vulnerable groups
• Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to advance gender, youth, and safeguarding agendas
• Monitor and report on progress against gender, youth, and safeguarding indicators and targets

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as sociology, psychology, gender studies, or social work, from a recognized Ethiopian university
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working on gender, youth, and safeguarding issues, preferably in an international development or humanitarian context
• Strong understanding of gender, youth, and safeguarding principles and concepts, including international frameworks and standards
• Experience in conducting gender, youth, and safeguarding analyses, developing strategies, and implementing programs
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and training skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in English and Amharic is required; proficiency in other local languages is an asset
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
