Job Title: Financial Services Lead, Food for Progress SunGold Project (Grade J / FSN 10)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Services Lead to join our team for the Food for Progress SunGold Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial leadership and oversight to ensure the effective management of project funds, compliance with donor regulations, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-impact project that aims to improve the lives of smallholder farmers and their communities in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial management strategies to ensure the efficient use of project funds and compliance with donor regulations
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to project staff on financial management, budgeting, and reporting
  • Oversee the preparation of project budgets, financial reports, and other financial documents
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and complete financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with auditing requirements and implement audit recommendations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local banks, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to facilitate project financial operations
  • Provide training and capacity-building support to project staff and local partners on financial management and compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field, preferably in an international development organization or a similar context
  • Professional certification in accounting, such as CPA or ACCA, is an added advantage
  • Proven experience in managing donor-funded projects, including USAID-funded projects, and ensuring compliance with donor regulations
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and procedures, including budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is required; knowledge of other local languages is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in financial management software, such as QuickBooks or SAP, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
