Job Title: Environmental, Social and Governance Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our organization’s ESG strategy, ensuring that we operate in a responsible and sustainable manner. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organization’s ESG strategy and policies, aligning with international best practices and regulatory requirements
• Conduct ESG risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate potential risks and capitalize on opportunities
• Collaborate with various departments to integrate ESG considerations into business operations, including supply chain management, human resources, and community engagement
• Monitor and report on ESG performance, including data collection, analysis, and reporting to stakeholders
• Engage with stakeholders, including investors, customers, and community groups, to understand their ESG expectations and concerns
• Stay up-to-date with emerging ESG trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements, and provide guidance and training to employees

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Science, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• Minimum 3 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or a related field, preferably in a corporate setting
• Strong understanding of ESG principles, including environmental management, social responsibility, and corporate governance
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
• Proven experience in developing and implementing ESG strategies, policies, and reports
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with ESG reporting frameworks and standards (e.g. GRI, CDP, SDGs)
• Professional certification in ESG, sustainability, or a related field (e.g. CSE, CSR-P) is an asset
• Fluency in English and Amharic is required; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage
