Child Protection Specialist

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring child protection programs and policies that promote the well-being and safety of children. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement child protection policies, programs, and strategies that align with international standards and best practices
  • Conduct assessments and analyses to identify child protection concerns and develop evidence-based solutions
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations to promote child protection and prevent child abuse and exploitation
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to stakeholders on child protection issues
  • Develop and manage budgets, reports, and other documentation related to child protection programs and projects
  • Represent the organization in child protection-related forums, meetings, and conferences

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Law, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • At least 5 years of experience in child protection, social work, or a related field, with a focus on program design, implementation, and management
  • Proven knowledge of Ethiopian laws, policies, and regulations related to child protection, as well as international standards and best practices
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Fluency in English and Amharic, with knowledge of other local languages an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, with a strong commitment to child rights and protection
  • Valid professional certification in social work or a related field, such as a license from the Ethiopian Social Workers’ Association, is an advantage
