Job Title: Physics Lab Assistant
Brief Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Physics Lab Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and execution of physics experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring a safe working environment for students and staff. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and setup of physics experiments, including equipment calibration and maintenance
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs of laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting and reporting faults
- Ensure the laboratory is safe and well-organized, adhering to health and safety protocols and procedures
- Assist instructors in teaching physics laboratory sessions, including demonstrating experiments and providing technical support
- Develop and implement new laboratory experiments and procedures, in collaboration with instructors and other lab assistants
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, including equipment usage, maintenance, and inventory
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
- At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a physics or engineering laboratory
- Strong knowledge of physics principles, laboratory equipment, and safety protocols
- Excellent technical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with instructors, students, and other lab assistants
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple tasks and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory management software
- Knowledge of Ethiopian health and safety regulations and standards
