Call for Consultancy: Development of Data Capturing and Common Software Platform for Ethiopian Health and Demographic Surveillance System sites

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced consultant to develop a data capturing and common software platform for Ethiopian Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) sites. The consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated system that captures, stores, and manages health and demographic data from various HDSS sites across Ethiopia. The ideal candidate will have expertise in software development, data management, and health information systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct a thorough needs assessment and analysis of existing data capturing and management systems used by HDSS sites in Ethiopia
• Design and develop a common software platform that integrates data capturing, storage, and management functions for HDSS sites
• Develop a user-friendly and intuitive interface for data entry, editing, and retrieval
• Ensure data security, integrity, and backup mechanisms are in place
• Develop a data analytics and reporting module to generate insights and trends from the collected data
• Provide training and technical support to HDSS site staff on the use and maintenance of the software platform
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the software platform meets their needs and expectations

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
• At least 5 years of experience in software development, data management, and health information systems
• Proven expertise in designing and developing software applications using programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#
• Experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
• Knowledge of data analytics and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js
• Familiarity with Ethiopian health information systems and HDSS sites is an added advantage
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
