About the Job
\nJob Purpose<\/p>\n
The Senior Automation & Instrument Technician\/Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, installing, and optimizing industrial automation and instrumentation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives, preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and compliance with safety and quality standards.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Automation Systems<\/p>\n
Maintain and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems.
\nDiagnose automation faults and restore plant operation with minimal downtime.
\nModify and optimize control logic where authorized.
\nAssist in commissioning new automation systems and equipment.
\nMaintain backups of PLC and HMI programs.
\nInstrumentation<\/p>\n
Install, calibrate, test, and maintain field instruments including:<\/p>\n
Pressure transmitters
\nFlow meters
\nLevel transmitters
\nTemperature sensors
\nControl valves
\nPositioners
\nAnalytical instruments
\nPerform loop checks and functional testing.
\nEnsure calibration records are maintained.
\nRecommend replacement of obsolete or faulty instruments.
\nElectrical & Control Systems<\/p>\n
Troubleshoot motor control circuits.
\nSupport VFDs, soft starters, MCCs, and control panels.
\nRead and interpret:<\/p>\n
P&IDs
\nElectrical drawings
\nLoop diagrams
\nPreventive & Predictive Maintenance<\/p>\n
Execute preventive maintenance schedules.
\nParticipate in predictive maintenance programs.
\nAnalyze recurring failures and recommend corrective actions.
\nImprove equipment reliability and availability. .
\nDocumentation<\/p>\n
Maintain maintenance records.
\nUpdate PLC and electrical documentation.
\nPrepare technical reports.
\nMaintain spare parts inventory for automation and instrumentation equipment.
\nLeadership<\/p>\n
Supervise technicians and contractors when assigned.
\nMentor junior automation and instrumentation personnel.
\nProvide technical training to maintenance teams.
\nCoordinate with production , quality and other departments.

\nEducation<\/p>\n
Bachelor’s Degree in:<\/p>\n
Electrical Engineering
\nInstrumentation & Control Engineering
\nAutomation Engineering
\nElectronics Engineering
\nAlternatively, a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering with extensive relevant experience (for technician-level appointments).
\nExperience<\/p>\n
5\u201310 years of experience in industrial automation and instrumentation.
