Nexus Ethiopia is a national non-governmental and non-profit making humanitarian organization established and registered as a National NGO as per the new CSO’s proclamation 1113\/19 with the registration number of 6225. Nexus Ethiopia is mandated to operate in all regions and City Administration in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n
In partnership with HELVETAS Ethiopia, Nexus Ethiopia is implementing the project entitled \u201cSkills for Employment in Tigray (SET) Project piloting the project in Mekelle and expanding to other towns.<\/p>\n
Job Summary<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
1. Safe Driving and Vehicle Management<\/p>\n
Provide safe, timely, and efficient transportation for staff, visitors, and project activities.
\nOperate vehicles in compliance with national traffic laws and organizational safety standards.
\nConduct daily vehicle inspections including fuel, oil, tires, brakes, lights, and general condition.
\nMaintain proper cleanliness, functionality, and roadworthiness of the assigned vehicle.
\nEnsure all vehicle documents (insurance, registration, permits) are valid and updated.
\nMaintain accurate logbooks including mileage, fuel consumption, routes, and trip details.
\nCoordinate timely servicing and report mechanical issues immediately to the supervisor.
\n2. Security, Safety, and Risk Management<\/p>\n
Follow all organizational security protocols, including movement authorization, route planning, and check-in\/check-out procedures.
\nEnsure safe travel in post-conflict and potentially high-risk operational areas in accordance with security guidance.
\nMaintain awareness of road, security, and environmental risks and take appropriate precautions during travel.
\nReport all incidents, accidents, delays, or security concerns immediately to the supervisor.
\nParticipate in basic safety, security, and defensive driving awareness sessions as required.
\n3. Field Operations and Program Support<\/p>\n
Support field logistics by transporting materials, equipment, supplies, and documentation for project activities.
\nProvide transport support for trainings, workshops, job fairs, stakeholder meetings, and field visits.
\nSupport movement planning for project teams in coordination with supervisors and field staff.
\nAssist with coordination of field schedules to ensure timely and efficient implementation of activities.
\nProvide logistical support during community outreach and other project-related events.
\n4. Emergency and Incident Response<\/p>\n
Respond appropriately to vehicle breakdowns and ensure timely communication with the supervisor and service providers.
\nEnsure safety of passengers during emergencies, accidents, or unexpected incidents.
\nProvide basic emergency assistance when required, including securing the scene and supporting communication with relevant authorities.
\nMaintain readiness for emergency movement or urgent transport requirements related to project activities.
\n5. Compliance, Conduct, and Administration<\/p>\n
Adhere to organizational code of conduct, humanitarian principles, and ethical standards at all times.
\nEnsure confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with staff, partners, and community members.
\nAssist with basic administrative or logistical tasks when not engaged in driving duties.
\nMaintain accurate records of fuel usage, maintenance, and trip documentation.

\nAbout You
\nQualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum completion of secondary school education.
\nValid Ethiopian driving license (preferably Grade 3 or equivalent).
\nMinimum of 3 years driving experience, preferably with NGOs or similar organizations.
\nExperience operating in field-based or rural environments is an advantage.
\nGood knowledge of local routes, language, and road conditions in the assigned area.
\nSkills and Competencies<\/p>\n
Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
\nKnowledge of vehicle maintenance and safe driving practices.
\nAbility to follow security protocols and operational procedures.
\nBasic understanding of emergency response and safety procedures.
\nGood communication and interpersonal skills.
\nHigh level of integrity and professionalism.
