In the same year, ERCS was recognized by the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and admitted as the 48th member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent. Its vision is to be a strong, self-reliant and the most efficient humanitarian organization in Ethiopia in reaching the most vulnerable. Our mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering and to contribute to the wellbeing of mankind and prevalence of peace. Since its establishment, the National Society has been actively engaged in lifesaving and community resilience building activities across major areas including food security and disaster preparedness\/response, health and health related initiatives and the promotion of humanitarian values. Following the recurrent drought, Increased chronic food insecurity and increased natural and manmade disasters ERCS is regularly trying to strengthen its capacity to address the above issues. Thus, ERCS is inviting applications from internal\/external qualified staffs that can fulfill the requirements of the post to fill the following vacancy that exist at Jigjiga, Somali Region of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>Job Title:\u00a0Project Officer (WASH, Health Promotion)<\/p>\n<p>Duty Station:\u00a0Gode<\/p>\n<p>Terms of Employment:-\u00a0Contract for 6 Months only<\/p>\n<p>Report to:\u00a0Regional Project Coordinator<\/p>\n<p>Salary:\u00a0As per the organizations scale<\/p>\n<p>Closing date: -19\/06\/2026<\/p>\n<p>Job Summary<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of the Regional Project Coordinator, the Project Officer ensures effective implementation of WASH, Health Promotion, activities in alignment with ERCS regulations. The role involves field-level coordination, community engagement, technical oversight, and reporting to achieve project objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>Project ImplementationConduct WASH and Health technical feasibility studies, and beneficiary targeting through surveys, focus group discussions, and site visits.<br \/>\nOversee rehabilitation\/construction of WASH infrastructures (public water systems, latrines, irrigation schemes, etc) and ensure compliance with quality standards.<br \/>\nSupervise the rehabilitation\/renovation of health centers<br \/>\nFacilitating the diseases and nutrition surveillance, and vaccination campaigns<br \/>\nOrganize hygiene promotion campaigns, capacity-building trainings, and awareness sessions on WASH, health and nutrition.<br \/>\nSupervise distribution of hygiene kits, water treatment supplies, and materials, and ensuring adherence to targeting criteria.<br \/>\nCollaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and stakeholders to ensure program integration and sustainability.<br \/>\nMonitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)Monitor project progress against indicators using ERCS\/NLRC quality checklists.<br \/>\nSupport MEAL unit in baseline\/post-distribution assessments and maintain updated beneficiary databases.<br \/>\nDocument lessons learned and share reports with stakeholders promptly.<br \/>\nReportingPrepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activity plans\/reports.<br \/>\nMaintain accurate records of project data, including construction progress, distributions, and training outcomes.<br \/>\nCross-Cutting IntegrationEnsure gender, disability, child protection, and environmental considerations are mainstreamed in activities.<br \/>\nPromote community participation to enhance project sustainability.<br \/>\nAbout You<br \/>\nQualifications and Experience<\/p>\n<p>EssentialEducation: Bachelor\u2019s degree\/Master&#8217;s Degree\/ in WASH, Environmental\/Public Health, Irrigation, DRM, Environmental\/Public Health, or related fields.<br \/>\nExperience: Minimum 5 years (including 3 years in humanitarian WASH\/ Health projects).<br \/>\nSkills:Proficiency in project design, WASH and Health support, and behavior change initiatives.<br \/>\nStrong knowledge of SPHERE standards and humanitarian principles.<br \/>\nExcellent communication in English and local languages (e.g., Somali).<br \/>\nAdvanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).<br \/>\nDesiredExperience in high-pressure environments with tight deadlines.<br \/>\nAbility to write detailed reports and build relationships across diverse teams.<br \/>\nCommitment to ERCS\u2019s mission and principles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":207,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","job_listing_type":[17],"job_listing_category":[210],"job_listing_location":[4],"job_listing_tag":[],"class_list":["post-36963","job_listing","type-job_listing","status-publish","hentry","job_listing_type-full-time","job_listing_category-project-management-and-administration","job_listing_location-addis-ababa"],"metas":{"_job_logo":"https:\/\/beleqet.com\/vacancy\/wp-content\/uploads\/wp-job-board-pro-uploads\/_job_logo\/2026\/06\/Ethiopian-Red-Cross-Society.webp","custom-text-26140818":"Ethiopian Red Cross Society -
