Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
1. Environmental Compliance<\/p>\n
Ensure all site activities comply with Ethiopian environmental laws, mining regulations, and permit conditions
\nSupport implementation of ESIA commitments and Environmental Management Plans (EMP)
\nMonitor compliance with licence conditions and environmental standards
\nAssist in preparing and submitting reports to regulatory authorities
\n2. Environmental Monitoring & Reporting<\/p>\n
Conduct routine environmental monitoring, including:Water quality (surface and groundwater)
\nAir quality (dust and emissions)
\nNoise and vibration
\nSoil and waste management
\nCollect, record, and analyze environmental data
\nPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
\nIdentify trends, risks, and improvement areas
\n3. Waste & Pollution Control<\/p>\n
Monitor waste handling, storage, and disposal
\nEnsure proper management of hazardous materials
\nSupport pollution prevention measures (dust suppression, spill control)
\n4. Rehabilitation & Land Management<\/p>\n
Support land disturbance planning and rehabilitation activities
\nMonitor revegetation, erosion control, and topsoil management
\nEnsure compliance with approved rehabilitation plans
\n5. Incident Management & Risk Control<\/p>\n
Assist in investigating environmental incidents
\nEnsure proper reporting and documentation
\nSupport corrective and preventative actions
\n6. Training & Awareness<\/p>\n
Support environmental training programs
\nPromote environmental awareness across site teams
\nEnsure employees understand environmental risks and controls
\n7. Stakeholder & Community Engagement<\/p>\n
Support engagement with communities and stakeholders
\nAssist in addressing environmental concerns and complaints
\nSupport social and environmental commitments
\n8. Audits & Inspections<\/p>\n
Participate in environmental audits and inspections
\nConduct routine site inspections
\nTrack and close audit findings
\n9. Continuous Improvement<\/p>\n
Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance
\nSupport implementation of best practices
\nAssist in maintaining environmental management systems
