Job Title: Special Advisor for Field Epidemiology Program

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Special Advisor for Field Epidemiology Program to provide strategic guidance and technical expertise to our Field Epidemiology Program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in epidemiology, public health, and program management, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective field epidemiology programs. The Special Advisor will work closely with our team to strengthen our field epidemiology capacity, provide technical assistance, and foster collaboration with key stakeholders to improve public health outcomes in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to the Field Epidemiology Program to enhance its capacity and effectiveness
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to strengthen field epidemiology capacity in Ethiopia, in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Provide technical assistance and training to field epidemiology teams to improve their skills and knowledge in outbreak investigation, disease surveillance, and data analysis
  • Collaborate with national and international partners to foster a coordinated approach to field epidemiology and public health response
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor program implementation, identify challenges, and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in field epidemiology and apply this knowledge to improve program effectiveness

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian or international university
  • At least 5 years of experience in field epidemiology, public health, or a related field, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective field epidemiology programs
  • Strong technical expertise in epidemiology, disease surveillance, and outbreak investigation, with experience in data analysis and interpretation
  • Excellent program management and leadership skills, with experience in managing teams and budgets
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders
  • Fluency in English and Amharic, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong sense of flexibility and adaptability
  • Experience working in Ethiopia or similar contexts, with a strong understanding of the local public health landscape and challenges
