Senior Nutrition Officer

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nutrition Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of nutrition programs, providing technical assistance, and ensuring that nutrition interventions are evidence-based and aligned with national and international standards. The Senior Nutrition Officer will work closely with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to promote nutrition and health in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive nutrition programs to address malnutrition and promote healthy eating habits among various populations
  • Conduct nutrition assessments and analyses to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in existing programs
  • Provide technical assistance and training to healthcare providers, community health workers, and other stakeholders on nutrition-related topics
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other partners to develop and implement policies and programs that promote nutrition and health
  • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to track the effectiveness of nutrition programs and make data-driven decisions
  • Represent the organization in national and international forums, conferences, and meetings related to nutrition and health

Requirements

  • MSc degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university or a foreign university recognized by the Ethiopian Ministry of Education
  • At least 5 years of experience in nutrition programming, preferably in a developing country context
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful nutrition programs, including experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Strong understanding of the Ethiopian health and nutrition sector, including national policies, programs, and stakeholders
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare providers, and community leaders
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is required; knowledge of other local languages is an asset
  • Ability to travel frequently to different parts of the country, including rural areas
