Job Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for leading the accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing financial guidance and support to management. You will also play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting team and provide guidance and support to junior accountants
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Prepare and review budget and forecast reports, and provide financial analysis and recommendations to management
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including tax laws and accounting standards
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, and ensure that they are followed by all staff
  • Provide financial guidance and support to management, including financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to management on financial matters

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • Professional certification in accounting, such as CPA or ACCA
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a senior role
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and accounting standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with management and other stakeholders
  • Proficiency in accounting software, such as SAP or QuickBooks
  • Fluency in English and Amharic, with ability to communicate effectively in both languages
