Job Title: Program Officer (Eye Health Project Coordinator)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Officer to coordinate our Eye Health Project in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and monitoring of the project, ensuring that it aligns with our organization’s mission and goals. The Program Officer will work closely with local stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community leaders, and government officials, to improve access to quality eye health services in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Eye Health Project, ensuring that it is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community leaders, and government officials, to promote the project and ensure its success.
  • Conduct needs assessments and baseline studies to identify areas of need and prioritize project activities.
  • Develop and implement project work plans, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Provide technical support and training to healthcare providers and other stakeholders to improve their capacity to deliver quality eye health services.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the organization to ensure that the project is aligned with our overall strategy and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as public health, nursing, or medicine, from a recognized Ethiopian university.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a development or humanitarian organization.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Strong knowledge of eye health issues and trends in Ethiopia, as well as international best practices in eye health programming.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, with the ability to work effectively with local stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community leaders, and government officials.
  • Fluency in Amharic and English is required, with knowledge of other local languages an added advantage.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
