Job Title: Global MEL Senior Associate (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning)
Brief Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global MEL Senior Associate to lead the design, implementation, and management of our monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that our programs are effective, efficient, and impactful, and that we are able to continuously learn and improve our interventions. The Global MEL Senior Associate will work closely with our global teams to develop and implement MEL frameworks, conduct evaluations and analysis, and provide technical assistance to program staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive MEL frameworks to measure program effectiveness and impact
- Design and conduct evaluations, surveys, and other data collection activities to assess program performance
- Analyze and interpret complex data sets to inform program decision-making and strategy
- Develop and maintain databases and data visualization tools to track program indicators and metrics
- Provide technical assistance and capacity building to program staff on MEL best practices and methodologies
- Collaborate with program teams to develop and implement learning agendas and knowledge management strategies
- Represent the organization in external forums and conferences, and contribute to the development of industry-wide MEL standards and best practices
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. international development, statistics, economics, public health)
- At least 5 years of experience in MEL, with a focus on international development programs
- Proven expertise in MEL methodologies, including experimental and quasi-experimental designs, survey research, and data analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret complex data sets and communicate findings effectively
- Experience with database management and data visualization tools (e.g. SPSS, STATA, Tableau, Power BI)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in additional languages (e.g. Amharic) an asset
- Experience working in Ethiopia or similar contexts an asset
