Dairy Farm Manager

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Dairy Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of our dairy farm in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the farm, including herd health, milk production, and farm maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dairy farming and a proven track record of success in managing a dairy farm. The Dairy Farm Manager will work closely with the farm team to ensure the farm is running efficiently and effectively, while also ensuring the health and well-being of the animals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the dairy farm, including herd health, milk production, and farm maintenance
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve milk production and quality
  • Manage the farm budget and ensure cost-effective operations
  • Supervise and train farm staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties
  • Monitor and maintain the health and well-being of the animals, including vaccination programs and parasite control
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other external experts to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in dairy farming

Requirements

  • BSc degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field from a recognized Ethiopian university
  • At least 5 years of experience in dairy farm management, preferably in Ethiopia
  • Proven track record of success in managing a dairy farm, with a strong understanding of herd health, milk production, and farm maintenance
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and train farm staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with farm staff, veterinarians, and other external experts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required
  • Valid Ethiopian driver’s license and ability to travel to rural areas as required
