Job Title: Consultant: Newborn, Child Health and Development Strategy Revision (2026-2030)

Brief Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Consultant to lead the revision of the Newborn, Child Health and Development Strategy for the period of 2026-2030. The successful candidate will work closely with relevant stakeholders to review the existing strategy, identify areas for improvement, and develop a comprehensive and evidence-based revised strategy that aligns with national and international standards. The Consultant will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance throughout the revision process, ensuring that the new strategy is tailored to the needs of newborns and children in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct a thorough review of the existing Newborn, Child Health and Development Strategy, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
• Engage with relevant stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare professionals, and community leaders, to gather input and feedback on the revised strategy.
• Develop a comprehensive and evidence-based revised strategy that aligns with national and international standards, and is tailored to the needs of newborns and children in Ethiopia.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the revision process, ensuring that the new strategy is informed by best practices and the latest research and evidence.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops and meetings to validate the revised strategy and ensure that it is widely accepted and supported.
• Collaborate with relevant government agencies and development partners to ensure that the revised strategy is aligned with national and international priorities and goals.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as Public Health, Pediatrics, or Development Studies, from a recognized Ethiopian or international university.
• At least 5 years of experience in child health and development, with a focus on newborn and child health strategy development and implementation.
• Proven track record of successfully revising and implementing national-level health strategies, with a focus on newborn and child health.
• Strong technical expertise in newborn and child health, including knowledge of national and international standards and best practices.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with government officials, healthcare professionals, and community leaders.
• Fluency in English and Amharic, with excellent writing and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with the Ethiopian healthcare system and national health policies and strategies, with a strong understanding of the country’s health priorities and challenges.
