About Candidate
Hailu Hanasho Yuma is an accomplished Ethiopian educator and peacebuilding practitioner with 12 years of experience teaching civics and ethical studies in the Sidama Region. Based in Hawassa, he excels at fostering critical thinking, ethical values, civic responsibility, and social harmony through culturally grounded approaches.
He earned a BA in Civics and Ethical Studies from Dilla University, with a thesis exploring indigenous conflict resolution via the Cimmeessa elders’ institution in Tula. Currently pursuing an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies at Dilla University (CGPA 3.69), he is researching the role of community policing in strengthening peace and resilience in Dale Woreda.
In 2023–2024, he participated in an exchange program at the Center for Peace Studies, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, gaining expertise in global peace strategies.
Hailu designs engaging curricula, leads conflict-resolution workshops, mediates disputes, and mentors youth. His efforts earned recognition from the Dale Woreda Educational Bureau (2008) and Dilla University Civic Engagement Club.
